Paul Byles

Founder & Director of FTS

Paul Byles is the founder and Director of FTS. He is a well-known economist and risk management expert in the Cayman Islands. Paul has worked in the financial services industry for over 25 years. He is former Head of Policy of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority where he was responsible for developing many regulatory policies relating to the financial services industry ranging from banking, trusts, insurance to investments funds. Known for his AML expertise, he drafted the original version of the current Anti Money Laundering Guidance Notes for the Cayman Islands, being the primary set of guidelines for the jurisdiction’s financial services industry. He is former Head of Regulatory & Economic Consulting of Deloitte where he provided strategic, regulatory and economic advisory services to both private sector and government entities.

Practise areas:

  • AML/CFT – drafting of policies & procedures & conducting annual training
  • Strategic & economic advisory – economic impact studies, public policy analysis, research & strategic planning at the entity, industry or national levels.
  • Corporate governance – development of board charters & procedures, conducting corporate governance audits and assisting with annual board of directors’ self-assessments.
